Decision-Making Style in an Organization

Decision Making Style

Introductions

Decision making process is an aspect of psychology, whereby one examines needs according to certain values. This process can either be emotional or of a reasoning procedure. Moreover, decision making is regarded to be in relation with the environment i.e. one interacts with the people in an organization to come up with solutions (Roger, 2001). This process gives way for individuals in an organization to set goals and objectives which they must accomplish within a specified period of time. Decisions made by individuals in an organization evaluate choices on whether to accomplish goals or not, if resources are available.

Decision-making processes most prevalent in the organization

In our organization decisions are made according to needs, time and priority. The decisions made are always made by chosen individuals within the organization. Apart from this, certain decision making procedures are always laid down so that problems can be formulated in the right manner i.e. from the important to the least important. These procedures involve a group of skilled people who not only masters the acts of bioethical decision making as a skill but they also try to exert intense mental efforts in order to come up with genuine ethical decisions (George, 2003). Therefore, decision making process involves coming up with objectives and creating alternatives to solve problems that are involved in day to day activities.

Problem identification and formulation styles

Problem identification and formulation styles in the organization always involves coming up with reasons to solve complex situations that the organization is facing. The organization has adopted and developed the theory of thinking process approach. This method is aimed at solving problems that have become complex through the use of extensive thinking (Osborn and Alexander, 2000). This process is aimed at coming up with positive results that will improve the productivity of the organization. Normally, this method involves manufacturing process whereby individuals use their knowledge to identify the failures of market demand or of manipulating policies. Apart from developing the thinking process the organization also utilizes the Triz style, in this style causes are identified and prioritized so that no single problem is left unsolved. Furthermore this process involves people being grouped and a contradictive table is formulated where the data is stored to be used in solving the problems in the organization.

The organization has also adopted the ‘developed and chosen potential solutions ‘style. This involves choosing accurate pros and cons to finding a better solution (Osborn and Alexander, 2000). In this style, people are chosen to identify both positive and negative aspects for each solution. It then chooses the appropriate solution that will fit the considerations made. The organization has also adopted the Fritz Zwicky’s morphological style, whereby two or three dimension matrix is always involved in order to find a positive solution, this process involves generating ideas from individuals and utilizing them more appropriately.

Strengths and weaknesses

The three approaches that the organization chooses to use in solving and coming up with accurate and possible solutions sometimes have weaknesses for instance, if the organization adopts the Fritz Zwicky’s morphological approach, it means that each individual should generate an idea about the organization (George, 2003). Going by the fact that some workers may be having a negative attitude towards the ideas that the other party generates, consequently coming up with an appropriate solution can be a problem (George, 2003). Moreover, the organization can use the thinking process method whereby special learned people can be employed to come and decide decisions to the organization. This method involves analyzing the problem, identifying the weakness of the company and creating a lasting solution that will make the organization is productive.

Favorable aspects of the style discussed

In conclusion, I would suggest that the organization use the Triz style since it always involves beginning with identifying the causes i.e. the root of the problem and trying to eliminate the causes (Roger, 2001). However, when using the Triz method special parameters are always involved for example the organization can choose the individuals in groups like X and Y, in this case solutions are gathered differently by using a contradictive table to state the solutions and decisions gathered (Roger, 2001). Also the Triz method enables stakeholders to mingle and solve the problem in a healthy manner since the problems are read directly from the contradictive table and solved in accordance to priority and importance.
