Role of an Individual, a Group and a System as a Whole

Generally, organizational behavior is concerned with how people operate as individuals and groups within a given organization. It gives a clear interpretation of people’s interaction from individual level, whole group level, and organizational level. Its principle aim is to ensure that the organization and the individuals working in it are able to meet their objectives. The interpretation of organizational behavior involves mind set interpersonal relationship, efficiency and productivity, dedication of employees, levels of organization commitment and industrial interaction. There are also factors that affect organizational behavior in a number of ways. These are management, corporate culture and style management. This paper seeks to expound on all the aspects of the three elements of organizational behavior and how they consistently work together to improve the efficiency of an organization (Zuboff & Maxine 2002).

First, working as an individual contributes to the growth of a community at large. Imagine you are alone in a secluded place working to achieve a goal. Without doubt, your effort will need support from others. Further more, the fruits of your effort will be stepping stones upon which others will use to achieve their goals. As a result, it becomes clear that an individual’s set objectives contribute greatly to the overall objectives of the community at large. For instance, self employment like owning a pub, a shop or a canteen in an area actually helps a class of people who can’t manage to purchase items from bigger supermarkets to get an opportunity to purchase products that fit their economic ability. This brings the relationship of an individual with a group into clear field of how they work together within an organization. In an organizational set up, it is clear that an individual’s effort to excel in his line of operation relies on the other members of the organization. In addition, his success makes work easier for those working in the organization and whose works depend on the outcome of this individual’s efforts. As a result, an individual’s effort positively reflects on the overall objectives of the organization. The reverse of this is true (Hofstad 1997).

In addition, an individual, a group and the whole organizational system enhance a good working relationship, especially when working in across-group communication and collaboration. This group reduces human life exclusion from the work place and increases the overall quality of life. It encourages interaction for the benefits of the job economy and the growth of the community because of the commonality of objectives and goals that are achieved by the different workers who tend to have a common mind. With these changes in mind, collective working efficiency increases. Working face to face is one of the major factors that also contribute to interaction. This factor makes communication more variable and easier in terms of passing important issues to a colleague (Hofstad 1997).

Lastly, collaboration of the three elements of organizational behavior leads to the improvement and efficiency of an organization through reduced stress. Health wise, managing a working group as an individual is a depressive thing. A part from that, being managed by one stubborn individual can also cause stress to the subjects. This causes great effects on the whole social system. Stress can conquer the emotions of an individual which will as a result cause negative reactions to phenomena. Consequently, this implicates negatively on the individual’s Performance and productivity. Due to this, a culture of hate arises. Therefore, the values, vision and goals die off as the worst destructive outcome in the whole system. However, study is being carried out to identify ways through which workplace stress can be alleviated. Physicians, psychologists and scholars are making use of technology to identify variability in behavior and its role in the formation of stress to an individual (Adler 1997).

It is therefore important that an organization understands the importance of an individual’s behavior and how this affects the whole organization. Through comprehension of individual behavior, it is easier to understand group behavior and eventually the general behavior of the whole system. Comprehension of the system’s behavior then works as the blue print from which an appropriate design can be developed to promote efficiency and hence productivity within the organization.

In summary, the whole social system should have knowledge on the systems approach and leadership guide for a better motivation in achieving organizational objectives. The whole organization should have a better interpretation on relationship matters so that it builds a better social strategy. This in turn changes and induces better values, vision and goals in an individual, whole organization and the whole organizational system. The organization’s culture hence becomes the point upon which the organization builds its leadership and style of communication. Furthermore, this becomes the motivating factor for employees who view the behavior as the foundation stone that sustains their working life. This also leads to employees feeling satisfied with their work. It also develops their career as they are increasingly motivated. With all these in place, the organization’s efficiency will be guaranteed.
