Qualitative Statement of the Problem

Social sanctions refer to communal and political systems and procedures that control personal and group behavior. It leads to conventionality and compliance to the laws governing a given community, nation or social group. This study will comprehend and illustrate the extent at which social sanctions influence individual behavior among employees in an organization. It will define and establish the link between behavior control and production (Kuhn, 1996). Since this study involves human behavior, both qualitative and quantitative research methods will be used.

Qualitative Research methods and Design

Qualitative research methods will be used to create possible leads and proposals which will eventually be used to invent a sensible and testable hypothesis. Qualitative research methods do not rely on the sample size as compared to quantitative. This research method will, therefore, help to gain an in-depth knowledge of human behavior and the reason behind such behaviors. This will help in achieving the research purpose since the results of this study are based on human responses.

The qualitative research design that will be used in this study is the use of interviews. This is because they are much easy to plan and conduct. The researcher will interview a few available respondents including friends and relatives working in various organizations as well as colleagues. The canvasser commissioning this qualitative study will be required to set up a straightforward sketch of subject matters that he/she desires to cover in the interview. The qualitative interviews will be equipped with unrestricted questions whose responses will capture the respondents’ knowledge. This will provide answers to significant questions regarding social sanctions more effectively and sufficiently. Interviews allow for multiplicity in responses, in addition to, the capability to adjust to new developments or matters during the research. These will, therefore, be critical in providing direct insight on which social sanctions influence individual behavior among employees in an organization (Willis, 2007).

Quantitative statement of the problem

Sexual harassment is one of the felonies that have recently taken root in the society mainly because of the idea of male patriarchy. Women have stood out firm to challenge the position in society by coming up with various feminine organizations with a sole purpose of eradicating this injustice. The problem of male domination has in recent years extended to work places where the bosses force their junior female employees to extend sexual favors in return for beneficial gains such as promotions and other rewards (Leedy & Ormrod, 2010).

. The female bodies have stood firm against this menace and have gone a notch higher to formulate policies that will make it hard for this cadre of perverted individuals who extend their unethical behaviors to work places. There is therefore a need to focus on practical and feasible solutions to the unethical use of technology in the departments. Stakeholders have devoted considerable attention to this topic, primarily on the issues of less use of social networks during working hours, containing costs, increasing employee productivity, mobilizing new resources, allocating existing resources more efficiently and increasing the role of the IT departments (Leedy & Ormrod, 2010).

This quantitative study will strive to examine the degree that the vice has extended to in regards to public and private sectors. It will be based on a few institutions that will give the researcher a guideline on the extent of the vice in both sectors as a whole (Willis, 2007).

Quantitative Research Method and Design

In quantitative research, information will be generated based on the specific case studied. Overall conclusions will only involve the hypothesis. It will be clarified whether these hypotheses are right. The quantitative research design that will be used in this study is a survey. The population to be studied will be identified and selected based on various office situations. Mathematical models and hypotheses related to the research topic will be used (Christensen, Johnson & Turner, 2010).

Variables and Population

Variables in this study include both independent and dependent variables. Independent variables in this study include what is being studied. Dependent variables include age, geographical location and gender of the respondents. The population in this study involves employees and policy makers in an organization.
